GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo Upgrades Infrastructure with Temperature Control Solutions

23 September 2021

Temperature controlled logistic is crucial for many pharmaceutical, agri and marine products. The primary goal for any temperature controlled shipping is to maintain the quality of the perishable products being shipped. Controlled temperature ensures that the products being delivered will have maximum shelf life with no temperature incursions. Hence maintaining an acceptable temperature becomes even more critical during the shipment.

GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo (GHAC) recently partnered with Envirotainer to introduce the first of its kind advanced Releye® RLP containers in the Indian market. These next generation temperature controlled Envirotainer Releye® RLP air cargo containers offer superior performance, up to 50% higher space efficiency, advanced live monitoring, and control features with an unparalleled ability to maintain the temperature of shipment for up to 170 hours, the highest in the world today. The start of Releye® RLP handling by GHAC will now allow leading pharma companies and other shippers in India to easily access the next generation active cooled container solution to move their temperature-sensitive shipments easily and effectively. With Hyderabad region being home to one of the largest concentrations of COVID-19 vaccine manufacturing globally, the introduction of the Releye® RLP containers in the market will further strengthen the global supply chain for the movement of these vaccines.

In addition, GHAC also partnered with DoKaSch Temperature Solutions of Germany to launch a dedicated Service Station for Opticooler temperature-controlled air cargo containers, becoming the first and only Indian node on DoKaSch Temperature Solution's global Service Station network. The new facility will make the world class DoKaSch Opticooler containers readily and easily accessible to the stakeholders across industries. It will enhance cold chain offerings at Hyderabad Airport for pharmaceuticals and other temperature sensitive shipments from across the region. The new Service Station operated by GHAC on behalf of DoKaSch will be able to house upto 100 specialised, temperature-controlled containers at a time and will serve as the primary regional hub for DoKaSch customers. This will also make the world class DoKaSch Opticooler containers readily and easily accessible to the customers who will be assured of ready availability and fast turnaround with the new on-airport container station. With the addition of this facility, GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo will be the biggest hub for temperature-controlled air cargo containers in the region.

With its dedicated pharma export terminal named 'Pharma Zone', the GHAC facility at Hyderabad is well established as the preferred hub for pharma exports in South Central India and positioning containers at the Hyderabad network station gives the local pharmaceutical manufacturers, forwarders, and airlines easy access to solutions for the global transport of high-value lifesaving medications.

Hyderabad Air Cargo terminal is the preferred gateway for pharmaceuticals and vaccine movements in the South Asia region and both the partnerships will allow leading pharma companies and other shippers in India to easily access the next generation active cooled container solution to move their temperature-sensitive shipments easily and effectively. It will play a critical role for Hyderabad based Covid -19 vaccine manufacturers in the ongoing battle against the pandemic.
