The onset of 21st century marked the beginning of an employment culture across the industries, wherein vocational and technical trainings were termed insufficient if they were not coupled with creative skillset. Employers today believe in hiring creative workers who can readily engage in teamwork and lead the team to solve problems, themselves. Even the jobs have now evolved from routine tasks with fixed and explicit rules to open-ended tasks that require employees to apply their creativity and judgment. While, excelling in the technical skills is a must-have requirement but to ace the employment arena with high-paying jobs and good job environment, employees also need to possess the adequate mix of creative and soft-skills.

To prepare young minds to meet these new-age employment requirements, GMR Institute of Technology (GMRIT) is offering students with a broad spectrum of technical courses in line with dynamic industry needs, globally. As the flagship institute of GMR Varalakshmi Foundation- the corporate social responsibility arm of GMR Group, GMRIT emphasizes on providing students with an idyllic and conducive environment for higher studies.

Achievements this year

Situated in the heart of rural areas of Rajam, Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, GMRIT has recorded the highest number (700+) of placement offers this year. This includes job offers from top recruiters like Fortel.UK, Amazon-AWS, Musigma, Infosys, TCS Digital and Cognizant. Various students of the institute have made also made an exemplary achievement by bagging placements in reputed Multi-National Companies (MNCs) with high salary packages varying from 8 lakhs per annum to 25 lakhs per annum. These students will be heading soon to their respective destinations of placement to take up their dream jobs.

Getting the students future-ready

Since its inception in 1997, GMRIT has been instrumental in bringing internationally benchmarked superior technical education to the doorsteps of the rural youth. It is under the aegis of experienced and committed faculty from diversified facets of all Engineering courses that GMRIT is offering various technical and non-technical training to its students from their third semester onwards. The institution conducts a number of seminars, technical talks and debates by inviting professionals and experts from industries and research centres. Irrespective of the branches, all the students are encouraged to participate in live hackathons organized by top MNCs. Students are facilitated and engaged with coding activities, technical contests, events, talks and webinars organized under GMRIT Professional Student Chapters, making them placement ready.


Focus on holistic growth of students

The curriculum is devised to cater to industry needs with fundamental courses across all the branches like C, Object Oriented Programming, Data Structure, Databases, Networks and Advanced courses which are department-specific, designed to teach the students in both normal and blended mode. Another added advantage is the laboratories where the students perform several experiments on advanced concepts and content which improves troubleshooting and problem solving skills with new versions of software and hardware.


Building talent pool for global markets

Every student undergoes 300 hours of employability skills training program that includes soft skills, analytical skills, coding and technical skills trainings apart from the company specific training. Students are given separate GATE coaching by the subject matter experts. Training on entrepreneurship development is also provided through Entrepreneur Development Cell (EDC) to the interested students, supporting them to establish their own start-ups.
