Since the rapid spread of COVID-19 across the world, almost every organization has encouraged people to work from home as a way to cut back contagion. Sensing the gravity of the situation, the government also suspended all services and banned the movement of people through various modes of transport during the lockdown. In fact, the whole world is staying guarded within their community with their family and loved ones.
However, staff from operations, housekeeping, landside management, inline baggage, airport rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) and airside operation teams are working round-the-clock to ensure unhampered operations at both the airports.
Understanding the need of the hour, the staff at Delhi Airport have been staying and leading a quarantined life. The housekeeping staff are engaged in extensive sanitization of all the terminal buildings to maintain an optimum levels of hygiene at the airport premises.
Working in the airport ecosystem, the past few days have proven extremely difficult for these staff members. Gripped by the fear of COVID-19 outbreak, some of them faced ostracization and were barred from entering their homes by their landlords, as they are seen as potential carriers of the virus due to their nature of work at the airport.
But such is the dedication of these workers that they decided to stay away from their families and neighbours for the sake of safety of others. Standing on the forefront and going beyond their call of duty, they have been leaving no stone unturned to keep a sterile environment for fliers and the citizens once the terminal opens after the lockdown.
